Cottrell is enthusiastic about doing our part in supporting programs and implementing environmental manufacturing processes that conserve and protect the environment. We have been committed thoughout the years to operate in an environmentally responsible manner, which includes the use of renewable energy, recycling and maintaining the quality of the environment in which we work and live.

We encourage the use of FSC Chain of Custody paper, and are proud to be recognized as one of the few commercial printers in the Rocky Mountain Region that is Forest Stewardship Council approved by the SmartWood Program of the Rainforest Alliance.

Our Production Efforts Include:

• Purchasing enough energy through Wind Power from Xcel Energy to run all of our production equipment
• Use of Computer-to-Plate Technology and a Digital Proofing system
• Use of process-less plate technology, which eliminates almost all waste-water contamination
• Recycling of all paper waste in the production and  administrative areas
• Recycling of all aluminum press plates – enough to be equivalent to 91 barrels of oil in energy annually
• Use of low VOC inks and chemicals throughout the company
• We use a sophisticated swamp cooling system in the entire production area, which greatly reduces energy use compared to the traditional HVAC systems
• Our lighting throughout the building uses energy efficient 277V
